Talk About Compositing! We Did Some!

This is a shot over the shoulder at the digital video workstation of our ace editor Jody Wickersham as he works on the new DRS spot called “Ticket To Work.” The eleven people in the “shot” were not really together in the shot until Jody put them there one at a time. That’s really what compositing is: shoot each person separately with an idea of how they need to look in the combined shot, and then layer each person into the combined shot one at a time, positioning each person exactly where you want them to be. That’s at least eleven layers and a background (in this case a green screen turned white). It’s electronic wizardry at its finest and just what the client needed for this new spot about helping disabled people find meaningful work. Watch for it on the air very soon.
